An irritating PC Problem that won't go away.

There is this *VERY* irritating computer problem that I am having, and no matter what I have done I can't seem to eliminate the problem. Almost any game I run on the PC, after a while it will usually kick me out and give me an "Illegal Operation" error. Sometimes it will just kick me out without displaying an error message, and sometimes it will plainly reset the computer. The frequency happens at random, every half an hour, every 10 minutes, sometimes every minute. I have no idea what the problem is, and it's irritating me real bad. I've had this problem, out of the blue, since early this year but ever since I had installed an Nvidia Geforce 7800 GS Video Card in, the problem comes nearly three times as often. Here are my system specs:

Pentium 4 3.2 GHZ
1.5 GHZ DDR1 RAM Memory
NVidia Geforce 7800 GS
2 Hard Drives:
Primary-8 Gigabytes
Secondary-80 Gigabytes
1 DVD Drive 16 Speed
1 CDRW Drive 48 Speed

I really hope someone can figure this out, because I have no idea what to do and I've ran out of options.

First, I want to know about what Operating System you use. And is it certain that this problem happened after you install a new video card?

oops! I knew I forgot something! I'm using Windows XP, the Home Edition. And I just remembered, the problem diddn't increase when I placed in the video card, it was when we got the home version of Windows XP. Before, we had used the corporate version but my brother decided to go out and buy the Home version.

If you got blue screen when the error appeared, and your memory didn't receive quality inspection, I think that cause is in the memory. Memory management is severe in WindowsXP, so even if the memory is imperfect, errors usually didn't appear at old version of Windows. And if you have two or more memories, please refer the following methods to solve this cause.

1.Installing a single memory to the memory slot
2.Write down the name(serial number or some informations) of memory, and start Windows
3.Play some games, and check the result
4.If you don't check all memories yet, remove memory from the slot and go to 1

When you got the error, installed memory may have some problem, so you should remove it from your PC. And remember when you install the memory, you need to touch some metallic things and discharge static electricity from your hands. (Memory break down easily because of static electricity, so be careful.)

I recommend to consult the PC store if the problem doesn't solve.

P.S.
You can also test the memory by using special program called "Memtest86".

Well, I tested the memory and everything checked out ok. It may be the video drivers, I don't know. nesmaster102, do you know where i can get a program that will completely clean out old and new drivers?

****UPDATE****

Well, it appears I actually found what the problem was. One of the memory chips was going bad....or it's comming in conflict with the other memory chip installed inside. Either way, once I pulled it out and went through 3 1/2 missions in Call of Duty 2 (Call of Duty 2 was most prone to giving this problem, as well as Brothers in Arms) without the problem occuring, I think it's a safe bet that I'll have to get the chip replaced. A few days ago the PC wouldn't let me connect onto the internet, and it seemed to refuse to connect online. Yet it could read off of this computer (The Internet PC I'm using), as well as share files with it. My brother and I diddn't understand what the problem was nor what wasd cauing it. But when we took the chip out, the PC was able to connect back online out of the blue! *Bizzare*!

Thanks for the help, guys. But all this from a memory chip? Damn.

I'm glad to hearr that. Memory is the most troublesome in the trouble of the computer. Especially when we upgrade PC, it is necessary to choose the memory carefully, and to take care with the treatment.

P.S.
When the memory to which didn't receive quality inspection, the probability that the problem occurs seems to 50% in Japan. But we have to take care about static electricity for any memory.
