Well, I've made a few of my own wallpapers, many of which I really like and use, but most of them are the same style, and the BG is all basically the same thing with just a little twist on each one.

If any of you could tell me how to make some cool BG effects using Photoshop (I finally got CS), I'd really appreciate it. And if you have any brushes that I could use, please send them to me, or link me to somewhere I can DL them. Thanks!

Well I myself use photoshop except the system i use doesn't have bursh downloads or anything like that ^-^ However a neat thing i do that makes backrounds look cool is paint the backgound by fading a single colour such as green in a diagnol so it looks really nice and gives it a great edge. Then I place the picture in along with some cool text and it looks great! If that didn't make sense I can send you a picture of a example I have done.

Wait...I think I get what you mean, so you put in a motion blur at a 45 or -45 degree angle, and put everything else on top of that? So sort of like this?

IDK if you can see those diagonal lines anymore, but i did put in a layer with clouds motion blurred. Oh well. If that was wrong, please do send me an example of what you mean.

Please keep the help comming...only four more days of spring break left...nooo!

Why thank you...that was one of my very early ones, when I was just trying out a new filter trick (or combo of filter tricks).

But what I'm looking for is new techniques to make backgrounds for wallpapers, using filter tricks and brushing. And then eventually, I want to learn how this site was made, because it is so unbeliavebly smexy. I have to know how he (gab is a he right) made those feathers and stars up there glow...

Well under your brush or pencil when you click it and scroll over the different typs you will find stars, you can do a layer of those on a black background and add layers of see through white, then you can deactivate certain layers and only make the layer with the stars active so when you use the see through white or blue coating over that layer. Then reactivate only the top layer and put a dark semi see through coating (of blue or black) and it will give the appearince they are glowing. Gabriollis (or Gab for short ^-^) Most likely used a different method though ^-^ Thats the only method I know and i find it works satisfactory enough ^-^

if you mess with alpha channels, and fading transparency you can get some really cool glowing effects

when I get home ill post a link to some stained glass I made glow

Jon, I went and reread some of my posts directed towards you and some of them sound snotty, for that I apologize I didnt mean it that way...but seeing how I worded them I could get that kind of feeling

sorry
