Do you think Windows Vista will live up to its expectations? Windows XP is the longest windows operating system to stand by itself, to me it seems to me nothing but newer images and new ways to getting somewhere with search bars deep down it looks like nothing but a supped up Windows XP. Is it worth it and the wait?

It is if you are into PC gaming. Vista is more optimized for that, and is set up to use your computer's graphics harware more efficiently. I won't be getting it when it first comes out, so that they can fix a fe of the bugs after the initial release, but it will be a part of the gaming rig I'm planning to build.

Well, Windows Vista may come up with a lot of incompatibilities, so be aware. Always keep your Windows XP CD ready.
I used one of the betas and it looked pretty. period. But if its final version really run like XP, it is fine, of course, on the compatibility side.
The beta worked fine on my pc, for a beta. Let's see how it performs when it is released. And get ready to free a lot of HD space.

Last year Microsoft gave to some hacker to try to invade and after 2 hours they found some gates and a lot of bugs:angry:
This make you think how can be safety Wv
I read in some magazines, it can find illegal programs and it sends all the informations to Microsoft server about what are we using, music, etc etc.

Windows Vista is not the same as Windows XP at all really. The UI and network stacks have been completely redone and heavy modifications have been made to the kernel (User mode DLLs, memory management, less registry dependancy, ect).

The only thing that looks the same as Windows XP would be the design of the IU in that there is a start bar at the bottom..

I'm not *happy* per se with Vista due to their decision to leave out MSH and abandon WinFS. But it definately a worthwhile amount of improvements...even if half of the features are already available in OS X 10.4. -_-; Nevertheless I reserve my final opinion for when I actually get my hands on the retail copy.

There is a high chance I will upgrade upon release.

If Vista is what i saw on that beta, i prefer stick to XP a little more.
Of course, Vista is expected to be more secure and fast than XP, but who knows...

I like the new design (especially Flip3D in Aero stuff) and some new features, but on the start it will be sort of bugs in it, so I will use XP for a while.

I want window Vista someday, but I will wait until my friends have tried it out first.
I Have not read very much about it, but I think it seems really Smooth. I really adore the design cause it is very similar to the newest Windows Media Player which I love.

The true reason why I want it is because of the design ;)

In all PC, Vista doesn't seem to be faster than XP. I heard that Vista need more high spec than XP to use comfortably. If someone want to use Vista, need to check performance.
Well I don't want to get Vista now, because upgrading OS doesn't always make the environment of the computer comfortable, and it is no advantage for the user who only want the secure OS. (The security holes can't disappear even if the engineer takes a long time to fix OS. It must be clear that the human is not perfect, and it can say the system that human produced is not perfect.)

The requirements for Vista is a 800MHz processor and 512MB of RAM; I don't think this is unreasonable for a modern day operating system. As long as you turn Windows Aero off, you're fine.

sheesh... 512MB?

Wow...looks like it needs intel duo for vista to work without hassles...:p

Even when I upgrade my PC next fall, I think I'll stick with XP until sometime 2008 or maybe even 2009. I actually stuck with Windows 98 until around the summer of 2004. I had to switch to XP because the OS was very unstable with the new motherboard and Pentium 4 3.2 GHZ processor. But once I installed it in XP ran very smoothly.

The only real reason I would switch to Vista is if my new upgraded hardware was to run unstable with XP and/or when Direct X10 games become more popular. The upcomming Hellgate London and Unreal Engine 3 games will support Direct X 10 but it won't be required. To fully utilize DIrect X10 you need not only Windows Vista but also a Direct X10 Compliant Video card. The upcomming NVidia Geforce 8800 Video cards are suppose to have Direct X10 support to it. All in all, when I do get Vista, I'm in for a new world of windows re-learning .

By the way, what is the current release date for Vista?

Vista may be released at January 2007. Release of Vista is postponed further in some rumor, but Microsoft said that the schedule is advanced according to schedule of general sales in January, 2007.
