basicaly what i mean is alchemy uses no elemental values what so ever. Elemental values is for exanple fire, wind, earth, water, dark, holy, plasma. alchemy just changes the for of the object and doesn't use any of these values.

Alchemy is a real science that researches how to make gold out of metals and how to gain immortality. The Sorcerer's stone is what they try to make.
I like the way Full Metal Alchemist approached the normally rather dark science of Alchemy. It used to be forbidden, you know. But anyway, back to the anime. It's really very nice. Ed and Al come across lot's of interesting situations and Ed always comes out stronger one way or another. He's really interesting, smart and quiet. You often don't know if he's really being a jerk or just playing to be one. He always has a plan, though.

Um, you can't really get away with calling Alchemy a real science. Sure, people believed it was real, and some parts of it were, but there were also a lot of mystical conotations and so forth that prevent it from being considered a science (more like an art).

Look through the science courses from any accreditted University... the only mention of alchemy you will find will be in a "History of Science" course.

When the mystical elements were dropped from alchemy, it became Chemistry.

I always learned (go American Education System) that the point of alchemy was for the purpose of transmuting one element into another ie lead to gold.
As such nuclear physics is Alchemy. By manipulating an atoms structure (removing adding electrons) As such you have actually have accomplished the point of alchemy...

Alchemy had a lot of mystical connotations as well. It was also involved in the seach for eternal youth through a magic stone called the Philosopher's stone. It was all associated with human greed.

You can't really say nuclear chemistry is Alchemy, since they don't use any magic or potions to do it.
