What anime show actually got you hooked on anime? What was the first anime you ever saw?

My first animes were: Legend of Escaflowne and Gundam Wing but I didn't totally get hook until I saw Cardcaptor Sakura.

First one would be Sailor Moon. My sister was a big Sailor Moon fan when she first got into anime. Me and my other sister kinda got taken along for the ride.

I got hooked into anime for the 1st time when i was just 3yrs old and i was watching the anime version of the enlish novels.."Princess Sarah" and "Cedie"....i think its from japan but the animation and color is not that good in 1980's :sheep:

Then came the beautiful anime of Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura ( a little of Dragon Ball Z) when i was 7yrs. old....

All my life, w/o a dought I'll watch anime all my life :)

For me there's 2 parts. First Dragonball z 10 yrs ago, but couldn't watch other animes as Jap anime are not popular in my country then. then 3 yrs ago, samurai x, vandread and aa megami sama. since then i am permanently hooked :)

It'd had to be Sailor Moon..that was the first anime I saw and I just got hooked. As I grew older, I got into other animes. But I still have a special spot for SM. ;)

Whats strange is that drawing got me hooked on anime,but what got me hooked on drawing was dungeons and dragons, so d&d therefore got me hooked on anime, now I watch anime all the time, and draw pics while I'm at it

I draw anime as well, I can't say I'm the greatest at it though as I'd rather do pixels than pen and paper.

Well...I know it'll sound a bit...lame. :) But I got hooked at anime by Pokémon. Don't hate me for it. I'm not even sure that you can call it a serious anime. I liked it way before all those cards and stuff came out. Then I watched Digimon...then Dragonball Z...then Gundam Wing, which was the one that really made me fall head over heals with anime. If I have to be honest, it's Pokémon, and I also have a soft spot for that one.

I don't think I can remember which anime I actually saw first when I was aware that it was actually anime. lol
Most likely it was one of the bubblgum crisis series or was it dirty pair. But anyway, I can remember being terribly young and watching "battle of the planets", as it was released in the US. I think it was an "edited" variation on ... I can almost remember the name.
But since then my tastes have grown rather eclectically over the years.

The first anime I saw was "VIDEO GIRL AI" and "URUSEI YATSURA". But it was AMG! that got me hooked on anime and J-pop for all these years.

Lemesee...Reiyuka, you're not alone...I was also hooked in pokemon, some time ago, when it is televised here. The gundam series also hookes me, but AMG really hookes me.

Same here. But Pokemon got boring soon for me as its basically the same set of attacks and team rocket always got blasted off

the anime shows that got me hooked were ah, my goddess and inu yasha, i dont know why though...:sheep:

I never watched Pokemon...I thought it was boring... But don't get me wrong I did slip a few Digimon episodes in when I was younger.
