That's 'cause most manga artist, like writers, all have one character that they think is the bomb. They usually keep it on the background, but it's very noticeable that there are different characters in an artist's different manga's that are alike. It's very normal.
Being an amateur writer, I know what I'm talking about. There is always one char; maybe it's just how she/he looks or how she/he acts, but she/he means so much to the artist or writer that they will use her/him over and over again. Maybe it's in honour of a person he knows and loves, or knew. There can be so many reasons. But a main character of a story doesn't necessairily have to be the writer/artist's favorite.
