HD DVDs

The new high definition dvds are suposed to hold about 3 times more data than todays DVDs (about 15GB in a single layer), they will also allow high definition video resolutions up to 1048 lines (normal DVDs can only hold up to 480).
What do you expect from this DVDs? For the first period of their entrance in the market their prices will be high as usuall, same will apply to the players that will read them, ofcourse you already guessed that the current DVD player dont support HD-DVDs, so you will have to buy another player (big news :|).

Also the DivX/Xvid Codec compression will have to improve for 1920x1048 resolutions unless they want people to download 1GB per anime episode lol, or maybe it will require a whole new concept of compression.

Let me hear your opinions, expectations about this :)

Watching DVDs on my HD TV through the HDMI cable to me looks the same quality as the HD promo clips Ive seen so i don't think i would be getting a new HD DVD player until there a lot cheaper =/

If anime eps were 1GB per episode it would take me 5 hours to download them .......... it would be hell trying to download a whole series >.<

I think only in televisions/monitors such plasmas which have higher digital resolution you will notice the difference: A very high detailed kickass video (Maybe your HD TV doesnt have higher resolution or the promo clip has low resolution as well).
So you will have to get a new expensive tv as well, gosh this guys are smart when takes to make people waste their money :susp:
