so thats what happens to Mahou! lol, i already suspected it anyways ^-^ so its not really a spoiler. I've never scene the ending to Card Captor Sakura, however i think its the sadest because *SPOILER ALERT!!!"""

Sakura-chan dies :( saving Syaoran. If anyone knows where i can download the BiTorrent ^-^ it would help tho cause i still want to finish the series (especially since Nelvana hacked the series and butchered it to peices).

SPOILER ALERT

Ara! Where'd you hear that? Sakura-chan doesn't die! I've seen the ending and I have the last manga too. Neither of them dies. Or are you maybe talking about one of the movies? While no one dies in those either, they almost do.

Some of these have been mentioned before but they are still sad endings/scenes for me...

Mahoro's "Death" from Mahoromatic... Its obvious they tried to 'salvage' that needless death by making that hideous final ep with left me thinking I had left the Mahoromatic universe for the OutlawStar one.. The Eva'esque giant hugging the earth thing was um.. different... They didn't explain why the teacher still looked young... And the left the kid on a deserted island miles away from anything resembling a freind.. Sheesh... Just how did he get off that island alive?

Roy Fokker's death from Robotech... That one had half my high school upset...

Masane Amaha from Witchblade.... actually the last couple of episodes from that series and escpcially where she tries to explain to her adopted daughter about people dying and going to heaven is pretty good too. You see the despair of a mother and the innocence of a daughter not understanding... It was surprising but at its heart Witchblade is a love story about a mother trying to provide for her adopted daughter before her own untimely and unavoidable demise.

Rossette Christopher from Chrono Crusade (anime version).... this one was very sad in the end when Rossette was crying that she did not want to die. I think though that to lesson the impact a bit the creators had that whole scene where Sister Kate asks Ex-Father Remington if the soul of a person who's made a pact with a devil goes to hell and he replies 'no'. That was a stark contradiction to what many Christians believe in that the soul with such a pact is indeed destined to go to hell.

Jinto Lin from Banner of the Stars II (first episode) Its really just that scene that grips you if you know the series and the characters. It makes you go WTF happened to Jinto!! Its technically one of the final scenes of the season but its shown first and spoken only in Abh so your left in the dark until you've watched practically the whole season. Suffice to say there is a Bannor 3 anime (Japan only) and the novels are up to seven books (Novels) so far (Banner 4 is out, Banner 5 is yet to come out) but the ultimate fate of Jinto is......

Saber from Fate/Stay Night.... She goes back to her own time just to die after struggling soo long to obtain the grail.

Maia from Daphne in the Brilliant Blue (first episode) Mia has just one horribly horrible day. She fails to get hired for her dream job after performing excellently in the trials (her friend who scored lower gets it), she gets evicted from her home, she can't find a job even in the seedy part of town, gets mugged, then in the rain while in a dark alley she is held hostage by a thug who holds a knife to her throat all the while threatening to kill her if some bounty hunters don't let him go.. Her day (and the first episode) ends with the beautiful red haired bounty hunter shooting through Maia's chest (to get to the thug of course), dropping both to the ground. Poor Maia, as her own blood splashes and spills around her, and with a knife still at her throat slowly fades out wondering 'Why me?'.

Now not all of these end sadly. Some just have some sad scenes. There are more but those are the ones that come to mind right now.

* bows * I apologize in advance for resurrecting an old thread, since it's bad forum etiquette and all, but there was one series that I have not seen mentioned that I really felt needed to be added to this list, mostly because it made me cry like a baby, in addition to the other series that many of you have mentioned [Texhnolyze, Kenchin, ect].

Admittedly, one reason this series hit me so hard was because I was dating someone who acted and looked almost exactly like the main female lead of this series... so it got a bit personal, but I know people who have agreed with me on this one, so I feel I'm somewhat justified.

By far, the saddest ending I have ever seen [Up to the after the credits moment of crying in happiness], would have to be ending [And most of the second arc] of the Fushigi Yuugi anime.

SPOILER ALERT!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

First off... they systematically kill off almost EVERY character in the series.. and do so on ways that once the first character falls... you end up just wanting to have tissues nearby, since by the time you are somewhat composed again... something else happens. By far, the second arc of the series is the darkness in comparison to the light of the first season. Death and blood flows freely in the second arc, as well as things such as the 'rape' of the main character, and some of the other mental tortures the characters endure. This continues through the final episode where Miaka-chan makes a choice that really shows how her character changed throughout the Anime.. forcing you to cry yet again as Tamahome dissapears from her arms while the slow edit of "Itooshi Hito no Tameni" [AKA, the opening theme] plays in the background, ending with her sitting there, tears in her eyes, stating "This book wasn't a cursed book. It, in fact, was the best book I have ever read."

;_;.... can someone give me a kleenex... ;_;

More recently, Lockon's death in Gundam 00 qualifies for one of the saddest anime scenes in Gundam 00, episode 23.
