Apparently 'protection' not available in the Otome universe, curious considering they're meant to be space fairing humans and yet have no form of birth control, at least, none that's ever mentioned.
It's something that tends to be left out of a lot of Japanese themed shows for some reason, perhaps a reflection on the traditional Japanese belief about the ultimate purpose of relationships. As we all know, the concept of 'romantic' love and relationships established thusly, didn't factor into Japanese culture until very recently. Traditionally such unions only existed to continue the bloodline, which may explain the continuing stigma concerning contraceptives in Japan.
