I know there's already a thread about this out there...But I'm not talking about Jpop or OST's or stuff. I'm talking about general music, not anime related. Kind of breaks the purpose of this sub-forum, but I'm being curious.

For me, it changes with the mood. When I'm sad, it's usually "How did I fall in love with you" by the Backstreet boys, when I'm happy it's different but it always has a very up-beat tune.
When I'm in love or in a romantic mood, it's "When you say you love me" from Josh Groben. And when I'm feeling dark I usually put on Evanescence or Enya.
I once even wrote a song myself, and added a tune to it. It was after being heartbroken so :cough: it certainly isn't a happy tune.

Anyway, I'm a huge boy-band fan, and not 'cause of the boys, just 'cause I like the songs and their voices. So, what about you guys?

Since 1994, I pretty much stopped listening to regular music on the radio and stuck to listening to Japanese music. Especially as my OST and Kikuko Inoue collection grew. My favorite song of all time is "Sotsugohyo" by Kikuko Inoue and I play that when I'm feeling blue. ( Man,I play that song a lot) I listen to Maison Ikkoku OST's when I want to relax. Whenever I go to the coast, I listen to "Hydrangea" by Kikuko Inoue esecially when I'm feeling alone. I learned the lyrics to "Yuubina Osakana" (Elegant Fish) to sing to my children someday. (yeah I know, sounds nuts huh?) But when I do listen to regular music, I listen to mellow stuff like Ray Charles, The Carpenters, The Eagles, Paul Mcartney, The Beatles, and for rock, I like Journey, Bob Welch,CCR. But the songs above are the ones I listen to mostly for the moods I'm in frequently. But don't let me fool you into thinking I'm always depressed. A lot of times I'll listen to these songs for fun and not because of mood. And as far as love songs go, I like Shania Twain's song " Forever and for Always". :)

Ah Reiyuka, I love so much music, you may as well ask me what is the meaning of life- the answer would probably be easier. You're right as well, alot depends on the mood one is in at the time. That isn't an answer though is it? Well here's a "little" slice of what I like.

Really good stuff that just plain makes me happy:
Stampeders "Sweet City Woman", The Offspring "Why Don't You Get A Job?", Modest Mouse "float on", April Wine "Could Have Been a Lady", Dub Pistols "Cyclone", Russian Red Army Choir "Kalinka", Three Dog Night "Joy To The World", The theme from "Zorba The Greek", Electric 6 "Gaybar"(perhaps the coolest guitar piece ever), Cole Porter's "Begin The Beguine"

A great singer makes a big impression on me, and there's something I love about vocal harmonics like Queen "Somebody to love" and the Dixie Chicks "Long Time Gone" . Then there's"Cold Cold Heart" -Nora Jones with her voice like chocolate, and I mean the good stuff, smooth alpenmilch thats been milled a bizillion times. Philosopher kings "Charms", "Cry", Ray Charles "Can't Stop Loving You" ..... Soooo Many.....

Then there's music from being in love: Berlin "Take My Breath Away" -yeah it's a stupid standard but hey, I was in love. Everclear "Santa Monica", Texas "Say What You Want" -both for a gal that proved I can fall again, and perhaps the sexiest song in the universe, Led Zeppelin's "Dyer Maker"

And the tiny native bit of my heritage knows there's something to be said for just getting up and losing yourself in the beat: try Despani Vandi "Gia", Jamiroquai "Little L", Ferry Corsten "Rock Your Body, Rock"

AAaarrgh! so many

oh wow, music...man i am really into music. i play bass for my church youth band so i try to listen to alot of different styles (cept pop, i hate it! unless it's like pop/rock) i used to listen to alot of hip-hop and rap, but i noticed that just help to add to my cocky arrogant personality and i'd swear alot more and get into alot of more trouble, not only at school, but like on the basketball court and what not. so now i totally gave up those two styles and i'm a BIG i mean MASSIVELY BIG rock fan. i like the style and i prefer the way rock songs are over rap (which is usually about gettin some or killin someone, not sayin rock hasn't got it's 'evils') there are alot of different groups i like, Good Charolette, Maroon 5, Nickelback, Linkin Park, Michelle Branch (pop/rock! :P) Avril Lavigne, Matchbox 20, Jack Johnson, Alien Ant Farm, and even some older groups like Pat Benatar, Guns and Roses, Whitesnake...still my all time favorite band EVER is Bon Jovi, when i listen to their music it's like they put so much energy into it i just love hearing it. i usually change music depending on my mood, if i'm mad it's like linkin park, if i'm a bit sad or need time to think it's slower song and such...ok so i'm yappin i should stop about now...

From all the stuff you guys have mentioned, I find a couple of things in my music collection. The Carpenters, Journey, The Beatles, The offspring, Queen, the Dixie Chicks, Nora Jones (I love her music!!), Texas (also great), M2M and of course Kikuko Inoue.

But I must admit that I love most of the music that Vlax-san loves too. Linkin Park, Nickelback, Guns n Roses and especially Bon Jovi are the best of the list, I think. I was so bummed out when my mom didn't allow me to go to the concert. Can't blame her, though, since I already went to two different ones before. But still.

And I'm kind of like you, Lionfish-san. I love a lot of music, and I've always got a song stuck in my head. But still, I just wanted to give an idea of the music I liked. Anyway. Pretty nice.

I listen to anime music only, most of the time atleast. The only time I can listen to different music is in my drawing class, because other students can bring music in while we work. On the bus or at home I bring my cd player all the time and listen to Inoue kikuko, she has really really great songs. Herd of kotoko's "Absurd" song? It's pretty nice and "Kyururun kiss de jumbo" song.

I've heard of her, and I think I've listened to "Mocking Bird" once. I like her style a lot, now that you mention it. Good listening music, and some of the songs are very danceable too. Great, thanks for the tip.

Man, the generation gap here is significant. Guess I'll have to buy those new 73rpm vinyls I hear so much about. Glen Miller really kicks butt.
