Actually, when it comes to models, I'm more into model boats, particularly submarines. I'm "building" the "Belldandy with Tamago-san" model as a change of pace. The models aren't that expensive. Each one cost less than $20.00 u.s. on EBAY.

I tried a resin model kit for a change of pace too, Bell in her goddess uniform was the first one I "built", now I'm hooked. I'm about to paint one of Bell with angel wings, sitting on a crane and I'm fitting togerher two more kits. Needless to say, i'm hooked.

Yeah, they are addictive aren't they? I'll venture to say that particular model took a lot of work didn't it Lionfish-san?

I'm also into modelling too but I need plenty of practice. I've built some aircraft from my bro in the result is duh. The cement always pretuding in the model, resulting to a big mess. I'm going to have a second opinion if i will buy the mini-urd that i saw in our nearby shop. It might need to build it or just already made.

Anyway, what is the difference of a resin kit and a model kit?

most model kits are made from thin pieces of styrene, the model glue used partially dissolves the plastic and forms the bond between pieces, resin kits are solid pieces of material that need epoxy or superglue to join together, essentially they're small statues.

for a brief guide building resin kits:

More extensive tips:

another good spot for tips

ebay is usually the cheapest spot to find kits but I often look on hobbyfan.com, e2046.com, and hlj.com, there are hundreds of kits, and the pictures are quite helpfull. It's more expensive at hobbylink japan (hlj.com) but they sell original castings, the artists get paid for thier work, and you get nice box art and usually a better quality kit

And if you've never seen any of these kits, there are two I've done in my fanart gallery!

Oh yeah, I've seen those. One of Belldandy and another one of Rei Ayanami, right? I think it looks so great, I probably wouldn't have the patience to put something like that together. I already get annoyed with my new closet.

Yeah, me too. Need more practice. Guess I'll just go for the ready-made ones.

Reiyuka-san, did you have to assemble your closet ?
anyway, model building does require patience, but I've been accused of having too much patience anyway.

Yeah, it's one of those do-it-yourself closets. But anyway, patience is good. I used to have like absolutely no patience until I concentrated on a hobby that required tons of it. Hm, maybe I should start doing that again... :)
