well you know.... it's pretty normal that your teacher made you work essentially on abstract art during your art classes.... anime/manga art isn't precisly "Art" in our western society... i mean, your teacher made you work on abstract art probably essentialy to test your ablity to "read" art.... of course, you can only dislike it if you close your mind on it... i'm not saying you're narrow minded, that's far from my intention, i just think that, if you really wanted to become animator, you would've coped with it to begin with, and with time, you would've learned tons of stuff (i don't have any example though... ^^') about not only abstract art, but also classical, baroc, etc....
