I don't really have a distinct favorite artist, howveer i love Pagen art of the 18th century, especially during the Medici period (Italy). To bad this crazey prist named i think ts spelt Savoranola created 'the Bonfire of the Vantiies' destroying some of the beautiful works of art that we do not have today :( One of my favourite peices of art is 'The Birth of Venus' ^-^

i do not have a favourite artist, apart from manga and anime ones. I just dont get that abstract art stuff. I once studied art at school in a hope of one day becoming an animator and drawing my fav anime characters for a living, but the course was so full of that abstract art garbage, plus the teacher was rather stuck up and pompous. It was a real turn off for me.

Is it because it is very suggestive art? You're such guys!!

Actually the art is very good, when i first clicked the link and saw that angelic blond in golden armor, i was like 'I wonder who modeled for his book?' and then I looked more closely and her body and was like 'geesh that is realistic' her face has so much detail! unless you look closely, she looks fairly real ^-^

I really like western art, but i prefer Medici period art ^-^

Luis Ruyo is an incredible artist. Definitely worth checking out. Same with H.R. Giger if you like weird stuff.

For my money though, I love the art of Masumune Shirow. One of the best artists alive right now if you ask me. Fujishima-sama is also a wonderful artist... The covers to the AMG manga volumes are breathtaking.

i will always prefer manga art to the western comics art, it's just my style, i remember the very first Gundam manga issue i got when i was just a teeny tiny kid, couldnt understand the words to read it yet though! ^^' i just got it for the pictures!

Diazo, now that you mentioned it and the link, i remember M.C. Escher was very good in drawing "impossible pictures" ones that play about with the dimensions, theyre very neat!

iv'e come to question 'art' a bit. i guess i'm not all too big a fan of modern art. i went to the museum of modern art a while ago and some of the stuff were like... two big blue canvases on the wall and a blank white canvas on the floor in between them... or junk just randomly stuck together, or one word written on a canvas...

of course i do like art!!! monet and picasso and... well just about everything! it's all beautiful and colorful and creative. i guess i like emotions the best. which means i really like photography. emotions and nature!!! yay trees!!!

Some teachers over here doesnt like anime "Art"...

They say it's not art and shouldnt be viewed as art....

But animating is a pretty hard course....
Imagine when you have to draw the same person on every sheet of paper just to make 30 sec scene..... ^_^ tough work

i dont like abstract art at all, so called art enthusiasts that see a big blob of red paint with smudges all over it and say it depicts a mans life struggles and all that garbage should have their head examined! LOL

abstract art is fun. does hitting someone round the head with a malet substitute as anger in abstract art? (yes i'm being sarcastic)

my fav artists when i was at school was probably dali and escher as well. also that dude who draws by doing lots of little dots, i forget what his name was
