You sir are my idol. How many thousands of dollars in anime is there? Seeing as to how you've got all the boxes and don't do fansubs, I'm assuming none of it is downloaded or bootlegged. So that comes out to a LOT of money, even if you go and get it on Ebay or something. Well, when Naruto gets released in America, have fun buying all 120+ episodes...

But you bought all 7 boxes of ranma 1/2...rich...rich! Darn...I don't have nearly enough money for even a tenth of that anime, well thats what my friend is for...DLs the fansubs and burns them for me, works like the real thing, but much cheaper.

Sweet collection though. Well, I'll just have to wait until winter when I go to Hong Kong...I'll get all of what you have at a fraction of the price! Buahahahahaha!

Heh... that's just anime DVDs. I've still got a bookshelf ******EDIT***** I meant to say bookCASE *******End Edit***** full of VHS stuff... but whenever I buy the DVD I pass along the VHS to friends. I didn't even bother listing anime soundtracks, of which I have many. Or Manga for that matter (I'm much more picky with my manga, but I still have a ton of it). On top of that, I have a lot of regular movies on DVD. All in all, I have well over 1000 DVDs (I'd guess half of it is anime). Even assuming only $25 each (which is probably a low guess), that's roughly $25,000. One of the reasons I have so many box sets is that it is cheaper. For example, I bought the complete Fruit Baskets series all at once in a box set. I paid $90 for it, but if I'd bought the DVDs seperately, I would have paid $30 each for them, so I saved 30 bucks.

The sad part is, I've built this collection in the past 5 years. I usually buy around 4 DVDs a week (sometimes none, if nothing good has come out, sometimes more, if a lot of cool stuff hits the stores at once).

I buy almost everything at Suncoast, which has a frequent shopper program, so I get coupons for between $5 to $50 dollars off every few weeks, which definitely helps. I've got about $100 dollars in coupons at the moment that I haven't used yet. The other benefits is that every employee knows me by name, and they don't hassle me about the free entertainment weekly offers and stuff like that. They get a list from the company on who their best customers are, and if I'm not number one for the month (which I usually am), I'm definitely in the top three. There are other benefits as well... for example, I forgot to reserve the Full Metal Alchemist collectors tin, and there were some severe shortages in my town, but they held one for me anyway, because the manager thought I'd probably want one. They set aside a box (it has "Larry" writen on the side) of the new stuff for me every week, even if I haven't reserved it.

Very cool. The thought of having a shelf full of manga, VHS, and OSTs alongside that huge collection is crazy! Do you have plushies, cosplay accesories, video games, action figures, wallscrolls, etc to go along with that too?

What kind of TV do you watch all of that on? Sound system? And what the do you do for a living? Rolling in the dough I presume. And how in the world do you find the time to watch/listen/read all of that?

I read all of them! hehehe

anyway, to answer some questions...

I have some plushies, but not a whole lot... Ryo-Ohki (large and small), Ken-Ohki (large and small), Ein (from Cowboy Bebop), and a few others. I have no cosplay accessories, because there aren't many conventions in my area and with red hair and a beard, there are few anime characters who look like me (although I could pass for the main character of Koi Kaze). When it comes to video games, I am VERY picky. I have all of the Final Fantasy games (except 11... I refuse to pay a monthly fee to play a game I've already paid for). I have the Devil May Cry series, the Onimusha series, the robotech games, the hack//sign games, and a few others (Star Ocean, Full Metal Alchemist, X-Men Legends, etc). Action figures... hehehe... I probably have about 100 of them, including a PVC statue of Belldandy (in her Battlesuit from the movie). There are too many to list (maybe one day I'll start another thread for that).

Lastly, Wall scrolls... I have 3 wall scrolls from Tenchi Muyo. Also adorning my wall is a "Revenge of the Jedi" poster (framed... note: I know it was "Return of the Jedi." The original title was "Revenge of the Jedi," and a few posters leaked out and then hundreds of duplicates were made. I have one of the originals). I also have a framed poster sized drawing that a friend of mine did (he's an incredible artist). The picture is of me as Tenchi in Lighthawk armor. It looks really cool.

Also, I have about 100 anime soundtracks.

I watch my anime on a Sony Wega flatpanel (16X9) TV on a Sony DVD player. I mostly read the subtitles (even if I'm listening to the English track), so I haven't bothered getting surround sound yet. I may go ahead and do that soon, but the sound isn't that big deal to me, since it sounds pretty good just in stereo (and Sony's surround sound stuff is still kind of expensive).

As for what I do, I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. In fact, since this is a website anyone could access, I'd have to blow up the planet. And we wouldn't want that...

nah, just kidding. I'm a network administrator.

I find time to watch it because I only watch one hour of TV a week (the rest is all movies). I've got an exercise bike in front of the TV, so I'm not a couch potato... watching anime really keeps your mind off what your body is doing, so I get a great workout.

I actually read the whole list, took a while, but I did it.

But an excersize bike in front of the TV? You can't enjoy TV like that! I hope you at least move it once in a while, so you can enjoy the couch!

The action figure collection sounds pretty impressive. In fact, everything is pretty impressive.

Network Administrator. Sounds like an interesting job. However, I probably won't do that when I grow up, since there are a lot of people majoring in computer related stuff, although I guess there are a lot of people majoring in business and biotech too... :(

Sounds like all is good in Larryland. :) Just remember, when the time comes, I was here for you to read your threads and respond to them...just will everything over to Jon... :P

I doubt if I've sat on my couch in the past 6 months... *shrugs*

Heh... my friends already have a "last man standing" duel planned if that day ever comes, so you'd have to get through them first. Be warned that most of them have been using swords for a long time, and they don't hold back.

That's another thing I collect... I've got a couple of Katanas, and most of the swords from Lord of the Rings (and I know how to use them!). I'm best with a rapier or epee... I've had more training at fencing than anything else.

Another red headed fencer on this site, what're the odds? I've given away or sold all my swords and such, save for a sturdy oak bokken I made for a costume, I haven't been on piste in a decade. As for my anime collection... I have almost none. Most anime I watch only once, buying it seems a waste. I do have a meager but growing stack of Oh My Goddes items, mostly manga.

I'm single, and quite happy that way. People tend to take the whole relationship thing to seriously, assuming that you have to pair up with someone to be happy. I just don't really feel the need to find someone to validate my existence. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

Sure, I may end up as "The scary old anime guy" that little kids in the neighborhood run from when I'm in my 90s, but I'm not worried about it.

As for fencing... it is becoming a lot more popular in the US. Several universities in my area have started teaching classes on it. It can be dangerous though... I've got a scar or two to prove it. Still, it is a lot of fun.
