I kind of like the "Harry Potter" books, they remind me of how much I used to love books by Roald Dahl.
A hint for the 'fantasy' lovers is Tanith Lee, who most probably know, and Cecilia Thornton. Also, although not fantasy and a bit...freaky, if you consider incest to be freaky, you should read the books of Virginia Andrews, they're really great. Although, like I said... freaky.

Hey! I'm just trying to recommend good books. Looking past the freakiness, Virginia Andrews was a really good writer.

Ah well. Still, Cecilia Thornton's trilogie is a must-read.
