I think Ken Akamatsu is a genius, i plan to buy or search in Internet the Manga, i heard is different from and funnier than the TV Series.

The Akamatsu's manga are always more beautiful than Tv Series. Watch Mahou Sensei Negima, the manga is very popular but the TV series no, so they stopped the production.

actually it was never really confirmed that Ed was male, indeed I have seen a number of episodes where Faye refers to Ed as 'she'

Yeah, i saw them too, but when they met Ed for first time, all people call Ed like a boy
