Maybe their markings are part of Yggdrisil code? They could describe not only elemental domain and rank, but the god or goddess's name... or perhaps it's a symbol to describe the connection each god or goddess has to Yggdrisil, since the markings essentially *are* their connection to it, and the source of their power.

Thats a good one too, I think we are all on the right trank cause i remember someone mentioning how Bells signs changed when she reached full power (the triangles open up and theirs a circle inbetween the triangles) As well I know that they are ment to symbolize status in the system for a fact, other then that i don't know what else they could mean cause im possitive there must be more to it.

If you think there's more to it, maybe it symbolizes their own personality or age. Like Skuld's is a little round compared to Bell's and Urd's.

Wow.... this topic has branched off a bit. We all seem to be questioning the elements of the markings on their faces. But it also leds one to wonder why some don't even have a third marking on their forehead. (ie: the girls at the computer things in the movie).

Also this has nothing to do with anything, but does anyone know how long British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, is in office for? =/

well, one things for certain, no matter how much we discuss it, the most we can manage are conjectures. Im not even sure Mr Fujishima himself knows for certain. Maybe what is required is a bit of in-depth rigorous research into the manga!
