Has anyone ever been curious to what those 3 markings on Belldandy's face symbolize? I mean, I don't think anyone has ever questioned them because animes are normally weird like that and no one ever questions anything weird or strange about the appearances of anime charactors. But they have to have some meaning, ya know?

yeah i've thought that too! and they all have different looking ones. maybe it has something to do with heaven and their powers and the system... sorry, i'm not to sure ^^

in the movie there's the part were Bell is promoted for something that has slipped out of mind, but there is a view were we can see Celestine in a crowd of other gods and goddesses with other signs, and even in the manga, when Rind is dreaming, there is another goddess with a different sign.... so my idea would be that each sign symbolizes a different type of power domain (like Belldandy is more air, and Urd is fire...) and because several gods and goddesses may happen to have the wame domain... there are probably different levels of power too... like in the beginning of the manga (4th and 5th volumes i think..) Belldandy breaks her seelings to become more powerful... and at the same time, her sign changes... actually it's a pretty good question you asked...

in the early days of the manga, Belldandy's marking on her forehead becomes enlarged whenever she becomes surprised/shocked, but i think this idea was later dropped as the manga continued.

Ummmmm, that's a very goood question. Pity I don't have a good answer or at least not one as good as already's been given.

Haza!!! I made a good question. The reason why I asked was because I'm a senior in High school and I'm a male. I got really bored this morning and put Belldandy's markings on my face (acturally I did Celestin and she did Belldandy O=) ) and we went the whole day with this light blue paint marker on our face just to be different. We were questioned alot and I often do many weird things at school. But I noticed that no one has ever questioned Belldandy's markings. This is alittle off topic but I sometimes believe that anime worlds are better because there is no such thing as segeration. But anywho... I guess I just became curious about what it really meant.

yup..i curious too! what does the light blue markings meant? why do the other goddesses have a different color of marking in them? :sheep:

Well from what I gathered out of the manga different markings symbolize ranks, apparently there are different types for male and female. As for the different colours, I think those symbolize the different domains in elemental powers. Thats all I really know about the marking, so sorry. For example Uds markings are trianges where as Bells are Diamonds because she is a first clss goddess unlimited, However Urd is a first class limited so the markings on her forehead are incomplete. ^-^ Hope i unraveled a little of the mystery ^-^

I have never seen a god or goddess with any other color markings then light blue.

Perhaps the light blue colour means that they have something in common, something deep inside thats the same. BTW, doesn't urd uses lightning magic? Why is her domain fire?

well i alwai's wonder what them marks make i remember what thei ment from a mag i read it ment something but i forgot (looking for the comic)

ah well i said fire because the element of Urd's angel is fire... ^^'... hmm... i think the light blue color can be explained by the fact of all of them belonging to heaven... as all the demons' marking are red because they belong to hell...

I think u forgot to mention Lightning as well, Urd is able to utilise Lightning /electrical Magic like her mum.

As well often times electricity and lightening are commonly used to gather because lightening can create fire. ^_^
