The aurora can be really spectacular here, but I see them at a low intensity so often I almost take them for granted. Usually when I see the northern lights they're a pale green slowly wavering and pulsing across the sky. Every so often though they really put on a show, bright yellows and blues, neon reds, even purple... a silent fireworks show lasting for minutes or hours, both in slow motion and manic strobe formats.
