i may have to get a new TV since my old one is being a "uncooperative" at times. but i was wondering which type of tV is best? LCD or Plasma?

i want one that is reliable with good quality sound and visuals, but i dont know much about the new stuff now, i mean whats even the difference between them?

Im not the technical one in my family, that would be my Uncle Tony, but this discussion came up between us and he says LCD's are the best. Their life expectancy is almost twice as long as the plasma because they run on a different system. However there is a lot of argument over the image quality because both look really good! When it comes to sound thats a seperate system all together. From experience i noticed LCD comes equiped with better sound, however you can buy a seperate sound station for the plasma and make it sound incredible!

As a slight note on sound, to achieve maximum sound quality its best to have a carpeted room so the sounds absorb better rather then echo off the floor ^-^ Good luck!

with plasma screens some of the cheeper ones (the ones that go for £1000) may have a slight lag with the sound and image. (thats the problem i had in the past dunno if that info is outdated) i would recommend an LCD screen

me too...i rather refer to quality and durability...but you must also see if the TV has good picture quality and good sounds. Also, choose the one that is compatible in other appliances like VCD?DVD's, Videos, computers, etc...but you can only go to this choice if you are short on budget.:E

yeah, if i can choose i would get another one of those cathode ray tube TVs (the normal ones) with a big flat screen, prob is the shops dont really sell them anymore, all of them have "moved on" to these new fangled LCDs and Plasmas, what annoys me most is that theyre all widescreeen! which means BORDER city when watching ur normal 4:3 anime DVDs!

not yet, our old normal TV is still going ok, i wanna keep the old one for as long as possible. That TV provided hours and hours of entertainment for us for years, i watched my very first anime DVD on it, kinda attached to it! its an old friend! LOL

in simple...
plasma have better projection quality but shorter lifespan...

LCD have better projection quality than CRT but a little off plasma's but have a longer lifespan compared to plasma...
