Has anyone seen this stuff?

I was watching NBC tonight, and it came on the screen for four seconds. No website, no other information, just four seconds of the Latin words "Omnium Finis Imminet." This is from the Book of Common Prayer and means "The end is nigh." Since then, I did a web search and have found that it has been showing up in grafitti all over the United States.

It appears to be some kind of ad campaign, but I can't find a definitive answer for what it is to. Anyone have any info?

Well, I have heard theories that it is advertisement for the "War of the Worlds" remake that is coming out, but that doesn't really fit.

My theory is that it is advertisement for NBC's new miniseries "Revelations" that has been moved up to air in April. I'd just like to know for sure.

I'm pretty sure it is what is called "viral advertising." Kinda like the clues they did for A.I. or leaking rumors about the college students who had supposedly died in the woods while filming the "Blair Witch Project." Generate a buzz, don't tell anyone what is going on, and let people get curious and start investigating. Then, leak a bit more every so often to keep interest up.

*shrugs* The fact that it got me interested shows that it works... If it is an ad for the NBC miniseries "Revelations," I'd laugh to death if some paranoid 90 year old Latin scholar sued them for giving him or her a heart condition...

Well, a lot of people thought it was for War of the Worlds, but Spielburg issued a press release that it is not.

It is a viral ad for the new NBC mini-series "Revelations", starring Bill Pullman (Lonestar from Spaceballs), about a guy and a nun who are trying to stop the end of the world.

What's a viral ad? Remember the Blair Witch Project and how the movie company was trying to convince people it really happened with fake documentaries and posts on website and so forth? Generate a buzz and people start talking about it, like we did. That's viral advertisement... word of mouth spreading like a disease. Pretty sleezy if you ask me. I doubt I'll be watching it...

yeah I hate when companies do this for promotion purposes. I wish they would find less Misleading ways to let the word out instead of exploiting us.
