I can only eat Pocky whenever I go to Shrewsbury, because that is the nearest place that has a shop that sells the stuff. (I live 40 miles away)

I just recently discouvered that Pocky is sold here. They don't sell it in our grocery stores however there's this great sushi stand in the mall that sells it. It's so yummy!!! Currently they are selling one with, i think its strawberry yogurt? Its really good! I encourage anyone who hasn't tried it to find a specialty food store and buy some ^-^ Out of curiosity though, why is Pocky advertised so much in anime? At first I thought it was a made up food.

well, Pocky is a very long established favorite snack in Japan. So therefore it is very much a part of the modern Japanese culture, so it wouldnt be a surprise that each features heavily in anime and manga ^^.

there are many different varieties of Pocky, you hav the classic chocolate ones, strawberry, milk flavor, and "G" pocky which is like a deluxe Pocky with thicker sticks and chocolate. Also theres coconut Pocky, luxury twirl Pocky available in different flavors! the list goes on! ^^'

There is also a spin-off snack called Pretz which is similar to Pocky, but they both from the company so theyre kinda like sisters! ^^

Haha! Wow that answers that question, I wonder what made it so popular though? I see companies take to the idea by getting bread sticks and chcolate dipping sauce and using that as a means of snack (same thing you just dip it yourself) I can't wait tell next time I go shopping I want to get myself some Pocky now! You guys ruined my diet :P! shame on you, lol

eating Pocky is no more fattenning than eating the usual western junk snacks like Mars bars etc. in fact it might less fattenning since the Pocky sticks arent that thick and the chocolate coating isnt that thick, a nice way to enjoy chocolate! ^^

Yes I agree...chocolate coating is thick...I tried 1 stick last night and all I did was ate the bottom part because I couldnt eat chocolate>> ~_^

Im not allergic to it......I can eat chocolate if I choose to but...I choose to not eat it...because they get stuck onto my teeth alot and I dont want to keep brushing my teeth everytime I eat chocolate.....They get stuck to places where I dont want to go..loL!!!!!!! I Havent ate chocolate for years now....I mean YEARS!!!!!

I dont think Im allergic to anything...I just choose to not eat it....same with Ice cream... ^_^ and candies ^_^ and...yeah ummm

Well, its pocky...If you don't like chocolate, there are like a billion other flavors to choose from! Thats one of the beauties of pocky...the power of choice, and options!

well, from what Peng said, its not really the flavor thats the problem for him, its the "sticky" nature and texture of the coating itself. For example the Strawberry flavor coating for the Strawberry Pocky is the same as the chocolate one, he will still have the same problem of it sticking to his teeth etc.

btw, how does chocolate get stuck on ur teeth Peng? its chocolate, it will melt it will melt in ur mouth after a certain time.
