To Vidofnir: everyone in the anime says Rin is very kind but as for me, that's not always true... He doesn't seem to realize what he's inflicting to Kaede: she loves him (he knows it because she doesn't stop saying "my reason of my life is to take care of Rin-kun") but even if he doesn't in return he won't tell her clearly and acts as if nothing had changed since before the time she begun loving him, so that she's still full of hope. He hardly says thank you for all that she does for him and when spending time with Asa, he thinks of informing her only on the last minute whereas she has been waiting for him for hours... this is not kindness, it's palying with someone's feelings. He finally realizes a bit what's Kaede's state but it's maybe too late...

I agree with you completely, even though I find it unmeasurably cruel, it does make for some grand story moments. I do think Kaede has some sort of mental ilness however, since whenever she "snaps" (that's a bit mild to say snapping, more like going berserk) at a person, and someone tries to stop her, she starts to apologise over and over for her behaviour. So I think in a way she knows her mental state is not normal, and that she's struggling with wether she wants it to stay that way or change it. In a way I think she has a mild case of bipolar disorder.

Yes, sure! This passage was interesting, it kept my attention. i was surprised when it started (you know when she's in the kitchen cooking something : she's got a weird look and the primura pulls up tha cap of the pan...) and i wanted to know how it would evolve. That was the same when Shia started to have a second personnalty...

That was actually quite scary to see, I'm not sure wether it was the story or the characters, but something really pulled me in at that time and it made me genuinely scared. Kaede's eyes were... How to say... Menacing to say the least. As for Shia, it's a good thing it turned out the way it did, or she would've been stuck with her schizophrenia for the rest of her life.

Another factor which played a big factor in pulling me in the story was the music, it was so wonderfully composed. Some of the background songs were really sad and depressing, and they were used at the appropriate times to create the right atmosphere.

I'm still amazed at the fact that Shuffle! started out as a H-game, and it grew out to be a full fledged and award deserving (I'm not quite sure it won any, but it deserves some) anime, that's quite impressive on the part of the producers.

As for Itsuki, whom you mentioned earlier, I think he's a quite amusing character. I thought he was very annoying until the point where Rin gets a nightly visit from Kaede (I won't spoil the rest), and Rin starts retracing what everyone said. Then a flashback of Itsuki came up and he said something to the effect of "You can't keep going on like this, leaving everyone in doubt and not making a choice, you won't get anywhere with that.", from that point on Itsuki really gained my respect.

The sequel to Shuffle!, "Shuffle! Memories" The first airings will be Sundays at 24:00 on Chiba TV starting January 7th, 2007.

announced in the October, 2006 Japanese edition of Newtype Magazine: Director Naoto Hosoda is going back into the studio turn out "SHUFFLE! MEMORIES", a Director's Cut version of the 2005 24 episode WOWOW TV series Shuffle!. The new series will re-edit the original, combining entirely new material, an added new story and new OP and ED. Broadcast is expected to be carried out by Chiva Television and others this winter. The story will focus in on the 5 girls (Sia, Nerine, Kaede, Asa and Primula).

I have to say that I just loved this anime. This is how a good harem anime should be. The girls are interesting and well drawn(very important!). The story is also school life which I think is best for a harem anime. I have to say that it captivated me from start to end, and as of today is the best Harem anime I have seen.

The only things I can say that is negative, is the boring story around Primula in the middle, and the fact that they twisted the story so much with flashback and such, that Rin chose the most likely one(from the beginning). Two of the girls were obvious choices, and two were not, still they managed to twist it so that in the end it wasn't unnatural that he chose who he did.
