"wow! Lionfish u know so much more about this stuff than all of us here!" I'm old, sometimes old people know a few things.
"i thought enka was more like old Japan music like a sort of Japanese folk song. Im now quite interested in listening to a sample of enka to find out what it sounds like. BTW i hear that female enka singers usually dress in kimonos!"
Well it is not quite traditional, but it's definatly not the sort of "pop" music that we're used to either. if you go here: http://www.quixium.com/enka/
you'll find some clips of enka music. Click on any of the blue S's, and you'll get a short clip of the artists singing. Listening to that short Harumi Miyako clip was what got me hooked, I actually bid on a vinyl record to get that song, yay ebay!(i won!)
And Yes, the female singers wear kimono while singing( yet another of my weaknesses) If you see a cd with a lady in a kimono on the cover you can make a safe bet it's an enka album.
