Hello all,
I am currently not very happy with my job (lacking motivation and spirit):mope: so im thinking if teaching could be my true calling. When in school i have always wanted to be a teacher but was put off it because my mentors say im too quiet a person for it. However i think i've changed from that now. What do you think (come on be honest!)

oh... so you want to be a teacher? hmm... well, first thing i can tell you is that not speaking in class doesn't necessarily mean that your shy or anything like that (i know, i do the same thing and my teachers tell me that every end of term...). but that doesn't mean you'll neve speak to anyone for the rest of your life and ruin your carere and be unsocial and never find your match etc etc...
so i think becoming a teacher is great BUT, you have to be able to say "ok i'm the boss her so don't be a pain in the neck with me... :sarc: "

(just don't go all "I'm very attractted to my wife...i give her a hug every day" like a certain science teach i know...)

It's not a thing anyone else can tell you really. If you feel that's what you want to do, then you should at least try it, never making the attempt will only leave regrets. And teaching is one of the noble professions.

wise words indeed yet so simple, i know if i become a teacher i will try hard not to become too strict or too soft. I would be eager to help victims of bullying as well since i remember how tough is was for me back in my schooldays.

that is nice of u. just be careful...sometimes kids don't like it when they have a teach ( or anyone for that matter.) trying to defend them...cpesially little boys...and it also matters which grade u wanna teach. elementary kids r supposed to be easier to teach, but i wouldn't know seeing that i'm still the student

no i think it would be better teaching in high school... well at least in a precise seccion (like in Science, Economy or Litterary seccions) where students pay real attention to the teachern especialy if this one is passionate of his/her subject (it's the case for most History teachers), it makes the subject much more interesting and you get more atention from the students, even from those who don't really like school...

it would be great if i am able to teach 16-18 year groups as like Morphee said they pay more attention and more responsible but its harder to land a teaching job for it.

Being 17 myself I know that I can be quite a pain in the butt to my teachers, mostly because I always question everything. Like Lion-san said, no one can really tell you. It's like this thingy Woopy Goldberg says in Sister Act 2 (Yes, I know, lame, but it works), "If one day you wake up, and you can think of nothing but singing, then you're a singer." With teaching it's not quite the same, but I think that you really want to become a teacher, so you should fully go for it.
The comment on being too soft and shy has been given to me too, since I have thought about becoming a teacher later on a couple of times. But you know, you never know how you react to a certain situation or certain people. With me it was my cousin who said it. I'm an entirely different person towards my family (as in very timid and shy, since I don't really feel at ease with most of them) then I am with friends (outgoing and bold), or with people who are younger then me in behavior. Things like that can only be judged by yourself. If you want to be a teacher, then by all means, become one.

hehe... :bounce: now i suppose you know what you have to do! if you feel your capable of becoming a teacher and you want to become one then besome one! or i would say "Fais comme tu le sens!" which should be like: Do how you feel it... (it can't be really translated i fear...)
