Being 17 myself I know that I can be quite a pain in the butt to my teachers, mostly because I always question everything. Like Lion-san said, no one can really tell you. It's like this thingy Woopy Goldberg says in Sister Act 2 (Yes, I know, lame, but it works), "If one day you wake up, and you can think of nothing but singing, then you're a singer." With teaching it's not quite the same, but I think that you really want to become a teacher, so you should fully go for it.
The comment on being too soft and shy has been given to me too, since I have thought about becoming a teacher later on a couple of times. But you know, you never know how you react to a certain situation or certain people. With me it was my cousin who said it. I'm an entirely different person towards my family (as in very timid and shy, since I don't really feel at ease with most of them) then I am with friends (outgoing and bold), or with people who are younger then me in behavior. Things like that can only be judged by yourself. If you want to be a teacher, then by all means, become one.
