I just realized something, Celestine is in someways close to Lucifer the fallen angel.

1) They both led a revolt.
2) Both were held pretty high in heaven and close to God prior to the revolt.
3) Both were kicked out for the revolt.

Similarities said, the differences must be distinguished.
1) Lucifer revolted because God wanted the angels to bow to his second creation, humans. Celestine wanted to make things better for us.
2) Lucifer was a highly regarded angel who loved God too much to bow to humans and created discontent among a third of the angels. Celestine was a god on the high council who planned in secret his little revolt that consisted of him and his prized student Belldandy.
3) Lucifer and his angels were cast down to earth. Celestine was stripped of his body and imprisoned in the lunar prison.
4) Crap loads of angels died in Lucifer's coup. Only like ten angels died at Bell's hand in Celestine's.

So in short, Kosuke Fujishima took the Lucifer story chasis, repainted it and put in a new engine and what not and pimped it and made the AMG movie. Fujishima may have made a nod to the connection by making it "Ah My Goddess 2000 Movie" (that name is according to the english movie site) and sorta play on some people's fear of the devil coming in the year 2000 or in the new millenium.

As I typed this I wondered what if Bell had been imprisoned or executed for taking part in the revolt. That would mean that K1's wish would have been granted by Peorth or a co-worker of Bell and when Celestine breaks out he would bring along Bell and she would have been a very kind, hard to hate vilan who would get in between K1 and who ever granted his wish and Urd and Skuld could have been brought in as a sorta third faction in the whole ordeal that tries to get Bell away from Celestine. Hmmm.... This is actually starting to sound pretty cool and kinda makes me wish that she had been imprisoned.

The movie wasn't Fujishima's it was Ghoda's, Fujishima only ok'd the story also the whole story of betrayal isn't isolated to Christianity my friend, in fact since most of christianity is derived from Pagan myths, its likely this story has its roots in one of the similar Pagan stories, actually in some ways iots similar to the story of Prometheus. In addition Belldandy at the time was a child still and too young to be held responsible for what happened

Either way, a character with conflicting perspectives makes for a good antagonist. His objectives and persona are limited to the movie, so I won't make any judgements on that:)
