It's fairly well explained, and there's a huge list of cities to choose from, and if your city isn't there you can even input your latitude and longitude. you can get the path of many satelites, and when they pass over and how bright they should be(lower numbers are better). You can even watch a realtime 3D representation of where all these satelites are flying about...it's just wild.
as for your question Dark_Urd, people who live in the continental states don't see them so often, the further south you go the rarer they get, although my dad did see them in Texas ONCE... it's like a once in a decade thing.
