I have yet to see the movie, but I have read the book. It is incredible! the dialogue, the writting skills is incredible and will draw you in and trap you in an instance as a good book should. This is one of those rare books that actualy had time and effort put into it to make it appealing and captivating, not a single word was written down by mystake, every single one carried an important meaning. For a time, I thought the story was true, it was not tell i took a peak at the 'acknowledgment' page in the back that i found out the main character, Sayuri, was a figment of his imagination. In a sense she was based on a true Geisha the author interviewed (who's name currently escapes me).
plz PLZ read the book, you will not regret it, it is a beautiful glimpse into the japanese culture, and the life of a Geisha.
For those who do not know what it is about, it fallows the life of a young girl who will become Sayuri, a Geisha set out into life to entertain in order to repay the debts accumulated in her life. It is full of drama and romance, it is funny, chilling, sad, compelling.
