It's exciting to have a cel used in the production of a T.V. show or movie, better if you can find one from a specific scene you enjoy. A company like Animaxis sells those AIC Hanken cels and others for 3,000 yen, 300,000 yen and more.
I bought one of a Tenchi Muyo chara (no background) at a convention auction a few years ago, for CAN$40.00. I'm happy with it.

Some people just like to own a piece of what made the movie or episode that they love. Its almost like owning an original work like the mona lisa but not so expensive :P I would personally own one then frame it and stick in up on my wall but I don't have the money and most cels that I find don't have a scene that I like.

WOW $700 for that cell *collapses* I have a wallscrol of that picture, much bigger and much cheaper ^_^

I think it is worth buying stuff that you like.

The cel is beautiful. It almost seems like a true family reunion!

cels are one-of-a kind...maybe that's the reason why its expensive... :p

some are really sought after as well. Maybe if that cell was signed by image Inoue Kikuko, Hisakawa Aya and Toma Yumi then I'd maybe I'd consider buying it ^_^ $700 + $50 P&P. I think that guy's taking the piss

I guess that technically if everyone was rich, prices would be adjusted accordingly so that the hierarchy of wealth would not be altered, as some would probably still be richer than others. Even if an equality rule was enacted, some would be 'more equal' than others :p. I got too serious again, didnt't I? :sheep:

The cell picture is worthy as the work of art. Today, AIC sells "Relezu Cell" which are made from scene of TV series on this site. (This site is Japanese only, and the cell can be bought only in Japan. Sorry...)

However, if you only want to collect some great scene of the TV series, you can capture from DVD without buying cells...

I'm not really into collecting cells either but I'd like to own at least one of all the characters from AMS on the off chance I get to meet their VC jap and english and get an autograph from both on the same cell. Now that would be priceless ^_^ but unfortunately very unlikely T_T

Cells are kind of interesting looking. My husband has one of bell and it looks nice but it is funny to see it just loose because all the paint is packed on one side and the other looks perfect. It literally look like the shrinky dinks in high tech you know?

I don't know if I would ever get into it. But I do like the way they framed that one. I think they look nice with a nice background.
