lol, you're a government worker too, huh? They work you like a dog, but at least you get good benefits... I do, anyway. ^_^; And I really can't complain too much about the pay... It's just that the work itself is pretty mind-numbing :P

I would honestly have to say , without bias, because I really love what I do and am proud of my occupation. That my answer is "YES". I have lost a good part of my soul, so to speak. And the strain is starting to show more readily. But I still believe in the good that I try to do on the job. And at times things happen to make it truly worth the sacrifice.

They haven't started a draft here yet, thank god... unless holybell's not in the US... dangit, I forgot to check profiles again! >_< Anyway, for now no one's being forced to join the military... however, if someone signed up for the reserves for the scholarship money a year before the war started, they're finding themselves being shipped off to fight... So in a lot of cases it's by choice, but not really. Some people signed up by choice, and took a gamble that no wars would start... and lost.

Holybell is in Singapore Melichan, which doesnt make much difference to me because im not familiar with either the US or Singapore army system.
personally i think if people have the abilities to join the military with a belief to "right wrongs" i would advise them to join the police forces, many problems are more closer to home. That way youre not used as "grunts" by crazy politicians.

nah, i am no GI joe. Juz tat my work back in the military is more mind draining than physcial torture. And no, i did not take this up due to my choice; the Singapore government make serving the Nation compulsory when the british withdrew their troops back in 1970 due to the limits of the a,ount of resources we have.

Yeah, best of luck to you... I hope you're able to escape that situation soon, holybell. And I agree with you, K1; you're more likely to get a sense of accomplishment by serving locally in the police force.

yes thats right, being in the military you're not always sure what your doing is right, i mean wars are bad to begin with. but in the police you know that ur on the side of justice and helping the community.

So what does everyone think would be their ideal job? I don't even know about me anymore... I guess illustration, but I'm really not sure.

i keep asking myself that same question! LOL
i think my ideal job would be one where i dont have to work at all, i get lots of freetime and still get paid for it! LOL

but in seriousness, i think my ideal job would be a successful teaching job, but a lot of changes in the education system and the overall attitude and behaviour of pupils are needed first.
