Norse Mythology
Skuld, the youngest of the Norns is the Norn of the Future. She is shown as a young woman, looking ahead (into the future). She is usually veiled and holds an unopened book or scroll which rarely allows anyone to read, indicating her reluctance to reveal the future. Skuld was not considered benevolent, as she would tear and scatter the cloth representing a man's life, thus extinguishing it.
Unlike the two older Norns, Skuld has no alternative spellings. It can be translated as "what shall be" or "what shall come to pass."
